‘Each of us secretly and desperately yearns to be ‘met’ - to be recognised in our uniqueness, our fullness and our vulnerability.’ (Hycner & Jacobs, 1995)

About me

I trained over five years at the Metanoia Institute in West London, one of the leading training institutions in counselling and psychotherapy in the UK. My work is based on an integrated philosophy that draws on the Person-Centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis humanistic approaches.

I have an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy from Middlesex University in collaboration with the Metanoia Institute, accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP), the main organisational body for psychotherapy in the UK.

I also have a Postgraduate Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapy and a Diploma in Humanistic Psychotherapeutic Counselling, both from the Metanoia Institute.

I am a Registered Member of the UKCP. I am also a member of the Metanoia Institute. I adhere to both organisations’ Codes of Ethics.

Before building up my private practice in 2018, firstly in London and then also in Tunbridge Wells, I worked over two years as a student volunteer for two community-based counselling services in West London.

I grew up in Leicester and have a degree (BA Hons) in European Studies and French from Manchester University. My first career was as a UK news journalist, working in Cardiff and then in London. I then went to live and work in several countries in Africa before settling with my husband and two children in Tunbridge Wells in Kent.

I was initially inspired to train to become a psychotherapist by my own experience of therapy over several years. The warmth, support and commitment of my first therapist, and the insights and agency I gained in the process, helped me to find my feet at a time when I was struggling.

I love my job because, although it can be challenging to be with people during what can be their darkest hours, it can also be very rewarding and fulfilling as we begin to make connections, build awareness and develop understanding together. Every client brings a unique set of experiences which keeps the work interesting. It gives me a sense of purpose to provide people who are in distress with a safe space in which to grapple with their problems, however big or small.
